About the Research Group

Disability & Technology is a research group consisting of junior and senior scholars. Within the research group different research projects are linked under the topic disability and technology and discussed in regular meetings.
The interdisciplinary and international research group evolved from a student exchange project between the Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, and the University of Zurich, Switzerland, which started in 2010. At the moment the regional focus of research lies on Uganda and Switzerland. The research seeks to intensively analyze the role, impact and potential of technologies for the lives of people with disabilities and is anchored at the Child Health and Development Centre and the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the Makerere University as well as the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology and the Ethnographic Museum at the University of Zurich.
